Heroes of the Vietnam Generation by James Webb

The rapidly disappearing cohort of Americans that endured the Great Depression and then fought World War II is receiving quite a send-off from the leading lights of the so-called 60s generation. Tom Brokaw has published two oral histories of "The Greatest Generation" that feature ordinary people doing their duty and suggest that such conduct was historically unique.

Chris Matthews of "Hardball" is fond of writing columns praising the Navy service of his father while castigating his own baby boomer generation for its alleged softness and lack of struggle. William Bennett gave a startling condescending speech at the Naval Academy a few years ago comparing the heroism of the "D-Day Generation" to the drugs-and-sex nihilism of the "Woodstock Generation." And Steven Spielberg, in promoting his film "Saving Private Ryan," was careful to justify his portrayals of soldiers in action based on the supposedly unique nature of World War II.

An irony is at work here. Lest we forget, the World War II generation now being lionized also brought us the Vietnam War, a conflict which today's most conspicuous voices by and large opposed, and in which few of them served. The "best and brightest" of the Vietnam age group once made headlines by castigating their parents for bringing about the war in which they would not fight, which has become the war they refuse to remember. Pundits back then invented a term for this animus: the "generation gap”. Long, plaintive articles and even books were written examining its manifestations. Campus leaders, who claimed precocious wisdom through the magical process of reading a few controversial books, urged fellow baby boomers not to trust anyone over 30. Their elders who had survived the Depression and fought the largest war in history were looked down upon as shallow, materialistic, and out of touch.

Those of us who grew up, on the other side of the picket line from that era's counter-culture can't help but feel a little leery of this sudden gush of appreciation for our elders from the leading lights of the old counter-culture. Then and now, the national conversation has proceeded from the dubious assumption that those who came of age during Vietnam are a unified generation in the same sense as their parents were, and thus are capable of being spoken for through these fickle elites.

In truth, the "Vietnam generation" is a misnomer. Those who came of age during that war are permanently divided by different reactions to a whole range of counter-cultural agendas, and nothing divides them more deeply than the personal ramifications of the war itself. The sizable portion of the Vietnam age group who declined to support the counter-cultural agenda, and especially the men and women who opted to serve in the military during the Vietnam War, are quite different from their peers who for decades have claimed to speak for them. In fact, they are much like the World War II generation itself. For them, Woodstock was a side show, college protestors were spoiled brats who would have benefited from having to work a few jobs in order to pay their tuition, and Vietnam represented not an intellectual exercise in draft avoidance, or protest marches but a battlefield that was just as brutal as those their fathers faced in World War II and Korea.

Few who served during Vietnam ever complained of a generation gap. The men who fought World War II were their heroes and role models. They honored their father's service by emulating it, and largely agreed with their father's wisdom in attempting to stop Communism's reach in Southeast Asia.

The most accurate poll of their attitudes (Harris, 1980) showed that 91 percent were glad they'd served their country, 74 percent enjoyed their time in the service, and 89 percent agreed with the statement that "our troops were asked to fight in a war which our political leaders in Washington would not let them win." And most importantly, the castigation they received upon returning home was not from the World War II generation, but from the very elites in their age group who supposedly spoke for them.

Nine million men served in the military during Vietnam War, three million of whom went to the Vietnam Theater. Contrary to popular mythology, two-thirds of these were volunteers, and 73 percent of those who died were volunteers. While some attention has been paid recently to the plight of our prisoners of war, most of whom were pilots; there has been little recognition of how brutal the war was for those who fought it on the ground. Dropped onto the enemy's terrain 12,000 miles away from home, America's citizen-soldiers performed with a tenacity and quality that may never be truly understood. Those who believe the war was fought incompletely on a tactical level should consider Hanoi's recent admission that 1.4 million of its soldiers died on the battlefield, compared to 58,000 total U.S. dead.

Those who believe that it was a "dirty little war" where the bombs did all the work might contemplate that is was the most costly war the U.S. Marine Corps has ever fought; five times as many dead as World War I, three times as many dead as in Korea, and more total killed and wounded than in all of World War II.

Significantly, these sacrifices were being made at a time the United States was deeply divided over our effort in Vietnam. The baby-boom generation had cracked apart along class lines as America's young men were making difficult, life-or-death choices about serving. The better academic institutions became focal points for vitriolic protest against the war, with few of their graduates going into the military. Harvard College, which had lost 691 alumni in World War II, lost a total of 12 men in Vietnam from the classes of 1962 through 1972 combined. Those classes at Princeton lost six, at MIT two. The media turned ever more hostile. And frequently the reward for a young man's having gone through the trauma of combat was to be greeted by his peers with studied indifference of outright hostility.

What is a hero? My heroes are the young men who faced the issues of war and possible death, and then weighed those concerns against obligations to their country. Citizen-soldiers who interrupted their personal and professional lives at their most formative stage, in the timeless phrase of the Confederate Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery, "not for fame of reward, not for place or for rank, but in simple obedience to duty, as they understood it.” Who suffered loneliness, disease, and wounds with an often-contagious élan. And who deserve a far better place in history than that now offered them by the so-called spokesman of our so-called generation.

Mr. Brokaw, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Spielberg, meet my Marines. 1969 was an odd year to be in Vietnam. Second only to 1968 in terms of American casualties, it was the year made famous by Hamburger Hill, as well as the gut-wrenching Life cover story showing pictures of 242 Americans who had been killed in one average week of fighting. Back home, it was the year of Woodstock, and of numerous anti-war rallies that culminated in the Moratorium march on Washington. The My Lai massacre hit the papers and was seized upon the anti-war movement as the emblematic moment of the war. Lyndon Johnson left Washington in utter humiliation.

Richard Nixon entered the scene, destined for an even worse fate. In the An Hoa Basin southwest of DaNang, the Fifth Marine Regiment was in its third year of continuous comb at operations. Combat is an unpredictable and inexact environment, but we were well led. As a rifle platoon and company commander, I served under a succession of three regimental commanders who had cut their teeth in World War II, and four different battalion commanders, three of whom had seen combat in Korea. The company commanders were typically captains on their second combat tour in Vietnam, or young first lieutenants like myself who were given companies after many months of "bush time" as platoon commanders in the Basin's tough and unforgiving environs.

The Basin was one of the most heavily contested areas in Vietnam, its torn, cratered earth offering every sort of wartime possibility. In the mountains just to the west, not far from the Ho Chi Minh Trail, the North Vietnamese Army operated an infantry division from an area called Base Area 112. In the valleys of the Basin, main-force Viet Cong battalions whose ranks were 80 percent North Vietnamese Army regulars moved against the Americans every day. Local Viet Cong units sniped and harassed. Ridgelines and paddy dikes were laced with sophisticated booby traps of every size, from a hand grenade to a 250-pound bomb. The villages sat in the rice paddies and tree lines like individual fortresses, crisscrossed with the trenches and spider holes, their homes sporting bunkers capable of surviving direct hits from large-caliber artillery shells. The Viet Cong infrastructure was intricate and permeating. Except for the old and the very young, villagers who did not side with the Communists had either been killed or driven out to the government controlled enclaves near DaNang.

In the rifle companies, we spent the endless months patrolling ridgelines and villages and mountains, far away from any notion of tents, barbed wire, hot food, or electricity. Luxuries were limited to what would fit inside one's pack, which after a few "humps" usually boiled down to letter-writing material, towel, soap, toothbrush, poncho liner, and a small transistor radio.

We moved through the boiling heat with 60 pounds of weapons and gear, causing a typical Marine to drop 20 percent of his body weight while in the bush. When we stopped, we dug chest-deep fighting holes and slit trenches for toilets. We slept on the ground under makeshift poncho hootches, and when it rained, we usually took our hootches down because wet ponchos shined under illumination flares, making great targets. Sleep itself was fitful, never more than an hour or two at a stretch for months at a time as we mixed daytime patrolling with nighttime ambushes, listening posts, foxhole duty, and radio watches. Ringworm, hookworm, malaria, and dysentery were common, as was trench foot when the monsoons came. Respite was rotating back to the mud-filled regimental combat base at An Hoa for four or five days, where rocket and mortar attacks were frequent and our troops manned defensive bunkers at night. Which makes it kind of hard to get excited about tales of Woodstock, or camping at the Vineyard during summer break.

We had been told while training that Marine officers in the rifle companies had an 85 percent probability of being killed or wounded, and the experience of "Dying Delta," as our company was known, bore that out. Of the officers in the bush when I arrived, our company commander was wounded, the weapons platoon commander wounded, the first platoon commander was killed, the second platoon commander was wounded twice, and I, commanding the third platoons fared no better. Two of my original three-squad leaders were killed, and the third shot in the stomach. My platoon sergeant was severely wounded, as was my right guide. By the time I left, my platoon I had gone through six radio operators, five of them casualties.

These figures were hardly unique; in fact, they were typical. Many other units; for instance, those who fought the hill battles around Khe Sanh, or were with the famed Walking Dead of the Ninth Marine Regiment, or were in the battle of Hue City or at Dai Do, had it far worse.

When I remember those days and the very young men who spent them with me, I am continually amazed, for these were mostly recent civilians barely out of high school, called up from the cities and the farms to do their year in hell and he return. Visions haunt me every day, not of the nightmares of war but of the steady consistency with which my Marines faced their responsibilities, and of how uncomplaining most of them were in the face of constant danger. The salty, battle-hardened 20-year-olds teaching green 19-year-olds the intricate lessons of the hostile battlefield. The unerring skill of the young squad leaders as we moved through unfamiliar villages and weed-choked trails in the black of night. The quick certainty when a fellow Marine was wounded and needed help. Their willingness to risk their lives to save other Marines in peril. To this day it stuns me that their own countrymen have so completely missed the story of their service, lost in the bitter confusion of the war itself.

Like every military unit throughout history we had occasional laggards, cowards, and complainers. But in the aggregate, these Marines were the finest people I have ever been around. It has been my privilege to keep up with many of them over the years since we all came home. One finds in them very little bitterness about the war in which they fought. The most common regret, almost to a man, is that they were not able to do more for each other and for the people they came to help.

It would be redundant to say that I would trust my life to these men. Because I already have, in more ways than I can ever recount. I am alive today because of their quiet, unaffected heroism. Such valor epitomizes the conduct of Americans at war from the first days of our existence. That the boomer elites can canonize this sort of conduct in our fathers'; generation while ignoring it in our own is more than simple oversight. It is a conscious, continuing travesty.

US Prepared to Strike Iran to Stop Nuclear Weapons

The United States may be forced to launch an attack on Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities if diplomatic efforts and economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic fail, Sen. Joseph Lieberman said Wednesday after a meeting with Israeli officials in Jerusalem.

Appearing at a news conference with Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain, Lieberman was unusually harsh in his assessment of the Iranian threat. There is a broad consensus in Congress that military force can be used if necessary to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, he said.

Lieberman cited a recent set of sanctions Congress passed against Iran as a potential deterrent. But he insisted that the goal of keeping Iran from becoming a nuclear power will be accomplished "through diplomatic and economic sanctions if we possibly can, through military actions if we must," according to The Associated Press.

Although U.S. officials often say no option should be taken off the table in relation to Iran's nuclear program, this is one of the few times an official of Lieberman's standing has explicitly used the term "military action" while in Israel, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The group also addressed President Barack Obama’s fence-mending meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the worsening situation with relations with Turkey, whose Islamic government is steadily moving away from the West to a closer relationship with Iran, according to experts. Turkey is one of the United States' oldest and best allies, McCain said.

"Of course, we have been disappointed by the actions and words the Turkish government was used," McCain said. "I hope that at some time the Turkish leadership would lower the rhetoric, reduce it, and try to solve differences in a quiet way."

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, appearing with the three senators, said the meeting between Netanyahu and Obama had been "successful."

"I spoke to the prime minister and part of the American National Security Council on the telephone, and we feel that there is a good chance to open direct talks between us and the Palestinians on all of the relevant topics," Barak said, according to The Jerusalem Post.

"I think that the success of this meeting expresses the depth of the basic relationship between us and the US, and between us and the Obama administration, and of the importance of this special relationship on the subject of Israel's security," Barak added.

But Barak didn’t shy away from the fact that relations between Israel and the Obama administration had been troublesome compared with relations under Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush. The Israeli ambassador to the United States recently told his fellow diplomats that a major shift is under way with Obama, who has made it a priority to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Barak said, "I don't want to delude us — there will be rises and falls and difficult moments throughout the process, but I believe and hope that we, in the next few weeks, will be in the middle of direct talks that will promote the chances for peace and will ensure the security and interests of Israel."

Iranian officials, meanwhile, said Wednesday that sanctions could slow down its nuclear progress. It was the first time Tehran has acknowledged the measures might have some bite, according to Reuters.

"We cannot say the sanctions have no effect," the head of Iran's atomic energy agency, Ali Akbar Salehi, was quoted as saying by ISNA news agency. "Maybe they will slow down the work but they will not stop it, that's certain."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad previously has said a new wave of sanctions imposed by the United Nations, the United States, and the European Union would have no impact on Iran's economy or its nuclear program.

He called the U.S. sanctions, which President Obama said were Washington's toughest ever, "pathetic" and said the U.N. resolution was worth no more than a "used handkerchief."

Salehi, who earlier on Wednesday said Iran's Bushehr nuclear power station would come on stream by the end of the summer, said the plant would not be affected by the sanctions, but Iran's more controversial uranium enrichment program might be, Reuters reported.

"In the case of enrichment and for some equipment like equipment for measuring, we might have some problems," Salehi said. But he added that Iran would be able to produce that equipment itself if necessary.

Iran has said it is prepared to return to talks with world powers on its nuclear program, to discuss a fuel swap under which it would send some of its low-enriched uranium abroad in return for purer material — enriched to 20 percent — that it needs for a medical research reactor.

Iran would continue enriching uranium to 20 percent, an activity that particularly concerns the West because it is a significant step toward making weapons-grade material, Salehi said. Iran, which says its program is for generating electricity and rejects Western suspicions it is seeking to build a nuclear bomb, had the right to enrich even further, he said.

"We will not produce 20-percent-enriched uranium more than our needs, but we reserve the right to enrich to whatever level of enrichment for use in peaceful ways," he was quoted as saying by the official news agency IRNA.

Obama signed into law far-reaching U.S. sanctions this month aimed at squeezing Iran's refined petroleum imports. Among other measures, the latest round of U.N. sanctions, in June, expanded an arms embargo against Tehran and called for new measures against Iranian banks with suspected connections to the country's nuclear or missile programs.

Ben Stein's Last Column...

How Can Someone Who Lives in Insane Luxury Be a Star in Today's World?

As I begin to write this, I 'slug' it, as we writers say, which means I put a heading on top of the document to identify it. This heading is 'eonline FINAL,' and it gives me a shiver to write it. I have been doing this column for so long that I cannot even recall when I started... I loved writing this column so much for so long I came to believe it would never end.

It worked well for a long time, but gradually, my changing as a person and the world's change have overtaken it.. On a small scale, Morton's, while better than ever, no longer attracts as many stars as it used to. It still brings in the rich people in droves and definitely some stars. I saw Samuel L. Jackson there a few days ago, and we had a nice visit, and right before that, I saw and had a splendid talk with Warren Beatty in an elevator, in which we agreed that Splendor in the Grass was a super movie. But Morton's is not the star galaxy it once was, though it probably will be again.

Beyond that, a bigger change has happened..? I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important. They are uniformly pleasant, friendly people, and they treat me better than I deserve to be treated. But a man or woman who makes a huge wage for memorizing lines and reciting them in front of a camera is no longer my idea of a shining star we should all look up to.

How can a man or woman who makes an eight-figure wage and lives in insane luxury really be a star in today's world, if by a 'star' we mean someone bright and powerful and attractive as a role model? Real stars are not riding around in the backs of limousines or in Porsches or getting trained in yoga or Pilates and eating only raw fruit while they have Vietnamese girls do their nails..

They can be interesting, nice people, but they are not heroes to me any longer. A real star is the soldier of the 4th Infantry Division who poked his head into a hole on a farm near Tikrit , Iraq . He could have been met by a bomb or a hail of AK-47 bullets. Instead, he faced an abject Saddam Hussein and the gratitude of all of the decent people of the world.

A real star is the U.S. soldier who was sent to disarm a bomb next to a road north of Baghdad . He approached it, and the bomb went off and killed him..

A real star, the kind who haunts my memory night and day, is the U.S. soldier in Baghdad who saw a little girl playing with a piece of unexploded ordnance on a street near where he was guarding a station. He pushed her aside and threw himself on it just as it exploded. He left a family desolate in California and a little girl alive in Baghdad .

The stars who deserve media attention are not the ones who have lavish weddings on TV but the ones who patrol the streets of Mosul even after two of their buddies were murdered and their bodies battered and stripped for the sin of trying to protect Iraqis from terrorists.

We put couples with incomes of $100 million a year on the covers of our magazines... The noncoms and officers who barely scrape by on military pay but stand on guard in Afghanistan and Iraq and on ships and in submarines and near the Arctic Circle are anonymous as they live and die.

I am no longer comfortable being a part of the system that has such poor values, and I do not want to perpetuate those values by pretending that who is eating at Morton's is a big subject.

There are plenty of other stars in the American firmament...the policemen and women who go off on patrol in South Central and have no idea if they will return alive; the orderlies and paramedics who bring in people who have been in terrible accidents and prepare them for surgery; the teachers and nurses who throw their whole spirits into caring for autistic children; the kind men and women who work in hospices and in cancer wards.

Think of each and every fireman who was running up the stairs at the World Trade Center as the towers began to collapse. Now you have my idea of a real hero.

I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters This is my highest and best use as a human. I can put it another way. Years ago, I realized I could never be as great an actor as Olivier or as good a comic as Steve Martin or Martin Mull or Fred Willard--or as good an economist as Samuelson or Friedman or as good a writer as Fitzgerald. Or even remotely close to any of them.

But, I could be a devoted father to my son, husband to my wife and, above all, a good son to the parents who had done so much for me. This came to be my main task in life. I did it moderately well with my son, pretty well with my wife and well indeed with my parents (with my sister's help). I cared for and paid attention to them in their declining years. I stayed with my father as he got sick, went into extremis and then into a coma and then entered immortality with my sister and me reading him the Psalms.

This was the only point at which my life touched the lives of the soldiers in Iraq or the firefighters in New York . I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters and that it is my duty, in return for the lavish life God has devolved upon me, to help others He has placed in my path. This is my highest and best use as a human.

Faith is not believing that God can. It is knowing that God will.

Obama's 2012 Campaign Plan: Billy Clubs

J. Christian Adams, a former career Justice Department official who resigned over the Obama administration's failure to pursue a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party, will finally get a chance to tell his story in public today when he testifies before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

Mr. Adams will make some explosive charges. He says the administration used a racial double standard in deciding last year to drop the prosecution of the New Black Panther Party after members were videotaped in front of a Philadelphia polling place on Election Day 2008 dressed in military-style uniforms, brandishing a billy club and using racial slurs against voters. Mr. Adams says the career prosecutors who pursued the case did their job but were stymied by Obama political appointees, for whom he has harsh words: "To abandon law-abiding citizens and abet wrongdoers constitutes corruption," he told Fox News last week.

President Obama's Justice Department continues to stonewall inquiries about why it dropped the voter intimidation case, which Bartle Bull, a former civil rights lawyer and former publisher of the left-wing Village Voice, calls "the most blatant form of voter intimidation I've ever seen." Mr. Bull and others witnessed one Black Panther pointing his billy club at voters and making racial threats. Mr. Bull says he heard one yell: "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker!"

Nonetheless, the Justice Department moved to dismiss most of the charges a month after winning a default judgment against the Black Panthers when the party failed to appear in federal court. The move came after Justice secured an agreement from one Black Panther member not to carry a "deadly weapon" near a polling place until 2012. In a written statement, the Justice Department now says it acted in good faith, adding: "It is regrettable when a former department attorney distorts the facts and makes baseless allegations to promote his or her agenda."

But the Washington Times has reported that six career lawyers at Justice, including Christopher Coates, former chief of the Justice Department's voting section, also favored pursuing the case. One of the career attorneys, Appellate Chief Diana Flynn, had urged in an internal memo that a judgment be pressed against the defendants to "prevent the paramilitary style intimidation of voters" in the future.

All of the career attorneys were overruled by Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, an Obama appointee.

Rep. Frank Wolf, a Virginia Republican, says his efforts to require Justice to make the career attorneys available for questions have been rebuffed. Mr. Adams is able to testify today only because he voluntarily resigned his career position. It will be interesting to see if his public testimony finally stirs the broadcast networks to cover this outrage.

Overwhelm the System

by Wayne Allyn Root

Barack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis, and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Obama was my college classmate (Columbia University, class of '83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival .. and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

-- Universal Health Care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. Â It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama does not care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

-- Cap and Trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes, and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

-- Make Puerto Rico a State. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Â Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

-- Legalize 12 Million Illegal Immigrants. Just giving 12 million potential new citizens’ free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Â Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

-- Stimulus and Bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.

-- Raise Taxes on Small Business Owners. The High-income earners and job creators, put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you have the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama using the Cloward and Piven Plan.

Google: Cloward and Piven and read the facts for yourself, do not believe this author without investigating for yourself.

California needs a comprehensive Immigration plan

The first thing that we need to realize is that the Illegal Immigrants in California are not the source of our problems. They are the result of our problems, not the cause that is adversely affecting California and our communities.

It is no surprise to anyone who pays attention to our Government, that the source of the illegal immigration problem is our own Social Welfare state. It has created the incentives that attract workers from around the world.

Our government turns its attention away from the problem, and allows employers to openly hire Illegal Immigrants without any of the workplace standards demanded of our American companies.

If you were in China, or India or Costa Rica why would you work grueling hours for low wages, with poor or no benefits? Instead, you can come to California and the United States and get every kind of benefits, even if you do not pay taxes. If you are willing to work, unskilled jobs will become available, but if you wanted to stay home with your children and do nothing, Californian’s will pay you for that also.

So for a politician to say they want to build that fence and put troops on the border will not address the problem, they are just creating another challenge for Illegal Immigrants to overcome, and they will by the millions if the real PROBLEMS is not corrected.

The electorate must realize that our Southern Border is only the symbol of the illegal aliens entering this country. They do not only come up from the south, but the come from every corner of the world, and by every means of transportation. Realistically we cannot stop their entry, no matter what we do we can only delay very small numbers entry.

There is only one way to correct our predicament, and that is we must stop all the Government incentives to non-residents, then we must go after employers who violate the law. There are some obvious types of jobs that are dominated by Illegals, and those are the first ones to tackle. This could be completely accomplished within 90 days, and it would cost the state very little additional money at all, so why has it not been done?

The answer lies in the problem, which has progressed over the years. Starting as a simple solution to the problem of not enough cheap unskilled labor, as predicted by the economists, and has grown to the point that the President of Mexico is here in the United States lobbying the US Congress to keep our borders porous. If it seems like every politician has a financial interest to keep our borders open while ignoring the fact that California has double-digit unemployment and we are headed for bankruptcy, then there should be a serious investigation of our politicians.

However, there are a few areas that will need special consideration. The first is California’s commercial agricultural industry. Many undocumented aliens have worked in agricultural positions that are difficult to impossible to fill with American residents or citizens.

For these reasons, any new laws or tightening and increased enforcement of existing Immigration laws need to have a provision for commercial farming. One suggestion is to allow one exemption for every five acres cultivated. With the agricultural exemption, there should be a process that makes these workers legal residents.

All other employers need to be given thirty days to replace their illegal employees with legal Californian residents. At the end of the grace period, enforcement needs to be aggressive, and the fine needs to be debilitating.

One suggestion was to fine employers for the first offence, $1,000 per illegal employee, plus a 30 days suspension of their business license, and 7 days in county jail. The second offence should be $5,000 per employee and a 90-day suspension of their business license and 30 days in jail. Third time $10,000 per illegal employee, permanent termination of their business license, and one year in jail. What do you bet there will be no third time offenders? The object is to stop the practice of hiring Illegals, not sending people to jail.

Going after the corrupt employers in California rather than trying to identify illegal immigrants by other means, will only harass, and alienate our Hispanic community. It is relative easy to identify Mexican illegal immigrants, but we have no idea how many Asian, European, African, and Middle Eastern Illegals we have living off of the same benefits and occupying jobs that could take a legal resident off unemployment.

We as a compassionate society need to stop demonizing hard working people that only want a better life for their families, who can blame them. We also need to stop the immoral exploitation of vulnerable people especially in underground sweatshops, along with removing the human tragedy along our southern border.

Going after the employer also is non-discriminatory, as it covers all illegal immigrants, Asian, European, African and Middle Eastern, not just Latinos. Illegal immigrants must return to their countries of origin to get in line for proper visas, to be fair across the board.

Another area of special consideration is alien families with children born in the United States, as any child born here is an automatic citizen. In the Illegal community these children are known as ‘Anchors’, and expectant mothers time their entry into the United States as to have their babies here. Going straight to the emergency room, the American taxpayer pays for everything and it has been California’s policy not to send ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement), rather we send the California Department of Social Services, welfare representative.

Because the benefits are so good, most end up staying on welfare and having more anchor children to collect higher welfare payments. If they work, it is only on an under the table undeclared wages situation.

A number of changes in our laws need to be made, first children born to illegal immigrants should not have automatic citizenship. Secondly, after the Mother and baby are well enough to travel, they need to be returned to their country of origin, and some argue that they should go to jail, which is to discourage them from coming back again, or others doing the same thing. To me that seems a bit draconian, but this cannot continue as we have no money for lifelong welfare cases.

The best solution for our illegal immigration problem is to go after the employers, and the Illegals will repatriate themselves within a matter of a month of two. This does not have to be a painful solution. In fact if done correctly not more than a half dozen employers will be singled out, so let’s get this done so we can put our legal residents back to work.

Propaganda and Myths About Illegal Aliens

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.

1). Illegal aliens want US citizenship.

Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a US citizen. Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, instate tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring.

Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying for them.

2). They do jobs that Americans will not do.

Illegal aliens are doing jobs that Americans cannot take and still support their families. Illegal Aliens were initially used to break the labor unions hold on the unskilled labor markets. Most recently, Mexican Nationals are being used to undermine the Trans-American Truck Driving industry. Previously they were only allowed to drive 50 miles into the United States, now it is unlimited.

Illegal aliens take low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses, and send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans will not do for a decent wage.

3). Every person who enters the US, left a very poor life.

They are NOT homeless and most left very good jobs in their home countries. After all it cost thousands of dollars paid in advance to the Coyotes that bring them across the desert.

When they get here, they to send money back to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20 billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of their children.

4). Illegal aliens are critical to the economy.

Illegal aliens constitute less than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful US residents. Their positive input into the American economy is so small, it is difficult to know precisely, however the negative contributions is massive, to Education, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Medical Industry, to blue collar American unemployed workforce, to our Social Welfare system.

5). This is an immigrant nation

There are more than 280 million native born Americans, that are dependent on their Nations well-being for survival.

While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by legal immigrants, it is also, true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.

6). The United States does not want legal immigrants.

Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition. The US accepts more lawful immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined. Those Immigrants contribute instantly to our Nations well-being. While illegal’s deplete our Nations resources from their very first day in the United States.

7). What about the "Hispanic vote.”

Hispanics are white, brown, black and every shade in between Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called "Hispanic vote" is a myth.

Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a racist point of view. The fact is, that up to this election the Big Money Republicans did not feel the Hispanic vote is significant, everything has changed and every smart politicians is pointing out how the negative the impact of Illegals is on our tax burden, which is every one's concern.

8). Mexico is a friend of the United States.

Since 1848, Mexicans have resented the United States.

During World War I, Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the US; During World War II Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the US from Mexico; During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the US to operate freely.

The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today Mexican schoolchildren are taught that the US stole California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. If you do not believe it, check out some Mexican textbooks written for their schoolchildren.

9). Some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life

There are 6 billion people on this planet, at least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day.

If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break our laws and sneak into America, then let's allow those other one billion in and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight.

Besides, there are 280 million native born Americans who want a better life, I’ll bet Bill Gates and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since when is wanting a better life a good reason to trash another nation?

10). There is a labor shortage in this country.

This is a lie. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens, students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent wage.  With unemployment hovering around 10% Nationally, 25% rurally, and 45% if you count the workers who have stopped looking and the under-employed. Where the jobs for the new College & High School Graduates, there are none.

11). Is it racist to want secure borders?

What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal jobs & benefits we have set aside for senior citizens, children, and other legal residents?

What is it about race card, which entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American Dream without paying the price?

American politicians have refused to stop the incentives and benefits for coming here illegally; they have not secured our borders and look after the welfare of working class Americans.

These treacherous politicians have been from both parties. American society has a huge National Debt, from working class people having their jobs stolen by criminals & Social Programs for Illegals has drained our National Treasure.

There have already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens and their supporters. There will be more.

Politicians now have a choice to barter with the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded the rights afforded to US citizens; or they will infuriate the American People who are stakeholders in this country.

Do they have the courage to stand against the Obama administration, who wants to give all illegals Amnesty with a pathway to immediate citizenship and trip to the voters booth?

Rather than to do what is right for America, and legal immigrants

Unions on the Run in the Golden State

It's rare these days for unions to suffer a political setback, but the California election results in early June were a big defeat. Now a business group that played a key role in the battle is ready to expand its efforts.
The Associated Builders and Contractors spearheaded a successful effort in two California cities to rein in rules that require union labor on state construction projects. Now the group is aiming to repeat its success statewide. "We want to see if we can stop these project labor agreements for the entire state of California," ABC spokesman Brett McMahon, who also runs a construction firm, tells me. "What we learned from the ballot initiatives in Chula Vista and Oceanside is that people get it. They understand the costs to these forced union agreements."

Those two cities, both of which voted heavily for President Obama in 2008, enacted "right to work" measures with 56% and 54% of the vote correspondingly. Under existing rules, workers who are hired for government construction contracts give up their right to choose whether they want to join the union. ABC says that its studies estimate that such union-subsidizing provisions raise construction costs by "18 to 20%," which means higher taxes. Workers also have to pay union dues and make contributions to pension programs that almost none will draw upon because of the short-term nature of most projects.

A handful of states have repealed such "project labor agreements." PLAs have been banned by gubernatorial executive order in Minnesota and Arkansas. Legislatures in Utah, Missouri and Montana have also acted to ban or partially ban these pro-union agreements.

But California is ground zero in the fight. Business groups have successfully placed an initiative on the November ballot in San Diego to outlaw PLAs. The strategy for the state as a whole is to help elect pro-business Republican Meg Whitman to the governorship in November. "We hope Whitman might sign an order to overturn project labor agreements," says Mr. McMahon.

The purported purpose of PLAs is to prevent work stoppages and labor strife on high-priority public construction projects. ABC says that issue is a red herring because work stoppages on government construction projects are "very rare, only once in the last decade that we could find." The real purpose is to expand the power and purse of organized labor. This is why President Obama signed an executive order last spring requiring PLAs on federal contracts of more than $25 million. "It's a backdoor way to get to union 'card check' and forced union workforces," maintains Mr. McMahon.

That's why the fight over PLAs is likely to move from the states to the national stage before long.

Proposition 8

This afternoon the Auberry group of the Central Valley Tea Party set up an informational table in front of the local market in Prather. During our time there, we had contact with dozens of local residents and others that were on their way up to the mountains to beat the flat land heat.

One of the most contentious and interesting discussions was with a group of young homosexual men. Their knowledge of the Tea Party movement was limited to left wing propaganda spewed out by the mainstream media. I guess, as far as they knew, we were all on closet Klansmen peddling hate.

They were smart young men and actually wanted to hear what we had to say, while making the point that their perception of us was based on our collective support of Proposition 8, which limited marriage to a man & a woman.

As a Born Again Christian, I jumped head first into the discussion, I explained that Marriage is, and always will be a religious institution, and for that reason it will never be anything other than between one man & one woman.

They understood our position but their primary concerns were much more pragmatic than ours were. The injustices they voiced were their concerns with legal recognition that translates into respect & benefits denied them by employers and everyday institutions such as hospitals.

They made a very good case that if they were given a path to obtain legal recognition other than Marriage, they would be happy.

While making my case and listening to their points of view, I suggested that “Marriage” is an institution that is mandated in every religion. The further we went in this discussion; it became very clear that the problem could be easily solved for most people by changing one simple thing.

Our local Government stops selling ‘Marriage Licenses’ to tomorrow, and start selling ‘Civil Union Contracts’ to everyone.

With that, the couple of whatever description can take that license to their local Church for the Marriage Ceremony or not.

The Government gets OUT of the Marriage business, which they never should have been in the first place, while still getting their fees.

The simplest solutions seem to always be the best solutions; the cost for this change will be limited to printing fees.

Current Conflicts Alter Geopolitical Landscape By: Arnaud De Borchgrave

North Korea can target, attack, and sink a South Korean warship, and kill 46 of the South Korean crew but South Korea cannot retaliate without triggering a barrage of shells from North Korea's 11,000 artillery tubes that can lay waste Seoul, a capital city of 11 million.

North Korea is also a rogue nuclear power and a single nuclear-tipped missile could probably achieve the same result.

A powerful argument against retaliation is the fear of an internal collapse of the last Stalinist regime on Earth. At 69, Kim Jong Il looks frail and dazed as he recovers from last year's stroke. He is also rumored to be fighting cancer.

South Korea could then find itself faced with a humongous bill for reunification of the two Koreas and the reconstruction of an entire country from the ground up.

German reunification cost West Germany $100 billion over 10 years. But East Germany wasn't without resources. Everything worked in the "German Democratic Republic”, albeit of inferior quality, much like the Soviet Union. North Korea is devoid of all modern amenities, from ground to grid.

Another frightening prospect is a civil war inside North Korea. The United States maintains 27,000 troops in South Korea, down from 37,000 since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Any spillover from north to south would almost automatically involve the U.S. military, or a third theater of operations (with Iraq and Afghanistan).

A population that alternates between hunger and starvation can't be too happy at the prospect of a third absolute dictator since the end of World War II.

Kim Jong Il's third and youngest son Kim Jong Un, 27, was anointed in mid-April when he was hailed as the grand master of the fireworks that marked the birthday of founder Kim Il Sung. Official praise as the grand master of fireworks was also how the current Kim knew he was to succeed his father, the world's first Communist absolute monarchy.

The North Korean media received a manual titled "Instruction Materials on Kim Jong Un's Greatness. "The heir apparent areas of expertise are listed as "organizing festivities, fireworks, and official choirs for the regime "

His father is quoted in the manual as praising the "Youth Captain" (his son) "for his beautiful fireworks and ability in organizing the 'Day of the Sun' . . . and who stayed up several nights to prepare the display (which) is a sign of his great devotion to the country."

And to guarantee army loyalty, Kim Jong Il promoted a hundred senior officers in honor of Kim Jong Un.

The eldest son is viewed as unsuitable. And the second son is known as a blackguardly bounder who was seen gambling $100 bills — North Korea is also known for its near-perfect U.S. dollar counterfeits — in a Macao casino. He was also sent home by Japanese authorities after he tried to enter with a forged Dominican passport. He wanted to visit Japan's Disney World.

As China, the United States, and South Korea were still discussing how best to persuade North Korea to step away from the precipice of conflict, yet another upheaval changed the geopolitical map of the Middle East. Israel lost its only ally in the region — Turkey, and any prospects of resuming "proximity" talks with Israel for a Palestinian state went down the proverbial toilet.

From London to Lebanon to Lahore, thousands turned out to protest Israel's botched operation to stop a Turkish-flagged convoy of six vessels transporting 10,000 tons of urgently needed supplies for Gaza's 1.5 million Palestinians.

Rappelling from helicopters on the high seas, Israeli naval commandos landed on the deck of the lead ship to be greeted by pro-Palestinian activists wielding metal truncheons, knives, and pepper spray.

Several Israelis fell as they struggled to untangle ropes and harnesses. Two Israeli sidearm were seized by the attackers. One Israeli was tossed overboard, and the Israelis opened fire, killing nine and wounding a dozen.

Israeli warships towed the Turkish vessel to an Israeli port where the pro-Palestinian demonstrators were taken to hospitals and a detention center. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Canada on his way to see President Barack Obama in Washington. He canceled the rest of his trip and flew home to take command.

It seemed the whole world was denouncing Israel again. Following Israel's 2008-09 bloody retaliatory forays into Gaza to suppress Hamas' rocket attacks, a U.N. report accused Jerusalem of "War Crimes”.

Israel the invincible is once again widely viewed as vulnerable. This could lead to a wider war in the region.

Iran will soon emulate North Korea's example and become a rogue nuclear state and the Israeli argument that says there is only one thing worse than bombing Iran's nuclear facilities and that is an Iranian nuclear bomb is a view widely shared by Washington's power brokers. It was first enunciated by U.S. Sens. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and John McCain, R-Ariz.

The gathering global storm against Israel could easily trigger yet another war — one that would change the geopolitical landscape, beyond recognition. Try oil at $300

Mexifornia

We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context, his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of America’s finest minds and leaders.

A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, 'Mexifornia,' explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.

Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America.  The audience sat spellbound as he described eight steps for the destruction of the United States. He said, 'If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do.

No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that ”An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.''

'Here is how they do it,' Lamm said:

First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country.

History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: 'the histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.’ Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, Corsicans, and Muslims.'

Lamm went on:

'Second, to destroy America, invent 'multiculturalism’, and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture.

Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal; that there are no cultural differences. Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.

'Third, we could make the United States a 'Hispanic Quebec’ without much effort.

The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said recently in the Atlantic Monthly, 'The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentric and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.’ Lamm said, 'I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.'

'Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated.

I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.'

'My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money.

I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of ‘Victimology.’ I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority.'

'My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties.

I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together.

Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic Games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty.

Yet with all these bonds, they were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. 'E. Pluribus Unum' -- From many, one’

In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we will 'Balkanize' America as surely as Kosovo.'

'Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits. Make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of ‘diversity.’ I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate.

Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them.'

In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally, he said, 'Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis' book ‘Mexifornia.’ His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book.'

There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today.

Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate ‘diversity.’

American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America Take note of California and other states, to date, ten million illegal aliens, and growing fast.

It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book ‘1984.’ In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: 'War is Peace,' 'Freedom is Slavery,' and 'Ignorance is Strength.'

Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we do not get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially the American Dream.

California Republicans can't win with wingnut candidates

It's no wonder the Republican party is often portrayed in the media as harboring racist, conspiracy theory nut jobs and cultish kooks when you have people like Ron Paul and his supporters holding and running for office; sticking an R in front of their names because they can't win without major party affiliation. Here in California, where Republicans are already the "off brand" label in most districts, legitimate candidates face the additional burden of distancing themselves from the delusional who hide amongst the discerning. The rest of the country has come to expect political lunacy from California; long lampooned and caricatured for posterity, this beautiful state's political reputation precedes itself, and it's not a pretty picture.

This election cycle does not disappoint; particularly in the Central Valley.

Running as a Republican for the Central Committee in District 2, candidate Steve Wayte stands out for his fringe beliefs and efforts to incorporate them into mainstream Republican politics. A man whose Tea Party leadership places him in a position of limited and marginally persuasive authority among the confused and misdirected, Mr. Wayte is not all that important or influential in the grand political spectrum, despite his best continued efforts to convey that image. But, he does represent the face of some of what ails the Republican party's image and virtually spoon feeds fodder to the increasingly successful and strategic Democrat efforts to marginalize and dismiss mainstream conservatives and the Republican party.

Legitimate, decent, grass roots Tea Party activists and Republicans unwilling to disassociate from groups and candidates whose affiliations to and support for Ron Paul politics, truthers, holocaust deniers, anti-Israel propaganda, New World Order conspiracies and other fringe nonsense only aid and abet the party's internal subversiveness and virtually ensure continued Democrat successes in California and beyond. And, unfortunately, a candidate of Mr. Wayte's political leanings not only sullies the Republican party's name, he devalues the efforts of his area's legitimate grass roots Tea Party activists.

So, why choose to expose someone who possesses limited political clout and will likely view this article as a badge of honor? Because the stakes are too high this election cycle, and in 2012 to continue tolerating the potentially damaging nonsense of "wanna-be" politicians who hide within the Republican party and take their policy cues from the likes of "Libertarian in Republican clothing," Ron Paul; a wingnut who leads by example with his isolationist attitudes, anti-Israel rants, 9/11 "truth" theory pandering, and refusal to distance himself from racists like Don Black.

I first encountered Wayte's true political leanings when a Facebook News feed of his posting flashed before me reading, "While I don't support his politics, he loved my Ron Paul revolution [sic] and ask [sic] to take this picture. Bill Ayers in Fresno” Spelling and wardrobe don't seem to be important to Mr. Wayte, who regularly appears before political crowds in his own "custom designed" t-shirts and appears to lack the ability to use spell check. I've not personally met the man, but, his common sense and questionable intelligence can easily be discerned from his Facebook postings, comments, and group affiliations, which include an anti-Israel bias and a 9/11 Truther Movement association. See the slideshow below. One posting includes an article entitled, "Israeli MP says Israel started shooting before even boarding flotilla ship.” Mr. Wayte's comment above the post reads, "Facts are stubborn.....” Now, it doesn't require a rocket scientist to conduct an internet search which will produce literally tens of thousands of hits on the flotilla incident. Aside from conspiracy theory sites, questionable blogs and anti-Semitic, anti-Israel sites, prolific factual information exists about the Turkish sponsored ship, Mavi Marmara, and its links to global jihad and how the events played out. Never ones to let facts stand in the way of an opportunity to bash Israel and push a Ron Paul inspired isolationist agenda, Mr. Wayte represents the worst kind of propagandist; ignorant, uninformed and unreasonably attached to a fringe narrative that serves to not only undermine the Republican party's image, but its ability to win elections.

Intrigued as to why anyone associated with a Tea Party group, particularly in a leadership position, would feel comfortable appearing with his arm around a domestic terrorist like Bill Ayers, I continued on to his Facebook wall to follow the thread. There, I discovered comments such as "... I think you would surprised [sic] how much Bill Ayers would agree with us on Tea Party issues." Uh...actually, I support the legitimate Tea Party groups, Mr. Wayte, and have written in support of my local area's efforts here and here. As a conservative and registered Republican, I can say with all certainty, Mr. Wayte, that I personally have nothing in common with Bill Ayers. Nothing at all. And, I'm surprised to hear a fellow self-described Republican and candidate for any level office identify with someone like Mr. Ayers.

Mr. Wayte's activist experience has brought him into contact with enough Republican Party candidates that he should know better. Instead, he literally believes, like all conspiracy theory advocates, that he does know better. His campaign description, albeit grammatically flawed, clearly illustrates this point. "While many believe the job of the Fresno County GOP is to get Republicans elected, which is true. [sic] The real job is to identify TRUE conservatives that understand and respect the Constitution of The United States of America."

You see, in his own mind, he is uniquely qualified to detect a Republican "fraud.” And in his self-determined estimation, Mr. Wayte and other candidates of the Ron Paul "influence" see things we mere mortals are unable to detect. Whatever.

After all the Central Valley has been through with water issues and unemployment, don't the decent, hardworking people of that region deserve better than a candidate who believes elements inside the United States government colluded with an esoteric, nebulous and ever-changing "organization" to purposely bring down the World Trade Centers in order to rationalize the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, expand U.S. control of Middle Eastern oil, provide jobs for Halliburton, increase military spending and to restrict domestic civil liberties, as just some of the stories go?

And, why would the Republican party want someone like this as a representative? That question remains unanswered despite two phone calls to Dr. Sidhu, chairman of the Fresno County Republican party.

Here's a clue Central Valley, any Republican whose major beliefs contain the words "anti" as in anti-Israel, or "truther" needs to be marginalized. These candidates hurt the Republican Party, the legitimate Tea Party groups, and all conservatives.

Finally, Republican candidate for California Governor, Larry Naritelli, and Republican candidate for California's 8th Congressional District, (Nancy Pelosi's seat), John Dennis, whom I wrote about here, and here, also disappoint.

After discovering his name on the We Are Change Bakersfield Facebook group, I personally notified Mr. Naritelli on May 6th, provided the link, and pointedly asked, "Are you a 9/11 truther?” His response, "9/11 was caused by terrorists not our government”, sufficed at the time. However, his name remains linked to the page (see photo 13 in slide show below), at least as of this writing. One has to wonder why.

*Update - At 6:46 pm this evening, June 7, Mr. Naritelli contacted me after having read this article, and respectfully informed me that he has now removed himself from all FB groups. Further, he reiterated that he was not a 9/11 truther, as I noted above. He then directed me to his website.

While I acknowledge and commend Mr. Naritelli for his separation from the We Are Change Bakersfield website, I remain disappointed it required public exposure - a situation I endeavored to avoid - to make it so. And, while innocently exploring various Facebook groups can be instructive, once a site's emphasis is clear, the choice to connect or disconnect is as simple as clicking the "Like" or "Leave group" option.

Courting fringe groups, or true believers? Either way, a candidate's choice to leave his/her name associated with fringe lunatic, 9/11 truther sites and Ron Paul demonstrates a questionable lack of judgment.

Myths Circulating about Illegal Aliens

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan, and Hondurans.
Before we can intelligently discuss the problems with our illegal aliens, we all need to establish the truth of how & why this all began.

The foundation for the invasion started back in the 1950's when American economists were predicting a huge increase unskilled labor's wages, they felt it was necessary to have a large infusion of unskilled labor to counter the natural supply and demand pressures, that they predicted for the United States.

It stated by helping the rural Black in the South with the civil rights movement, which mobilized many to migrate to the industrialized inner cities of the North.

When the Black population stabilized and the economists had proved their value, the next candidate they targeted would be the women's movement which was again viewed as a population resource for unskilled and semi-skilled workforce. Women generally proved to be brighter, better educated, and more skilled than expected; they also demanded higher wages for those skills.

This meant that economists needed another source of cheap labor that would not be able to demand higher wages.

The Latin Americans was in the midst of several civil wars, and all but the ruling & criminal classes were impoverished. All of this added to the pressure for migration which is exactly what the economists wanted.

With the tacit approval of government, the border doors were left ajar for the largest migration in world history. If the government would continue to ignored their presence and keep them in an illegal status, they would never be able to make demands for better working conditions or payment for their services.

With the exception of Caesar Chavez, and the Farm Labor Movement who organized for a more humane working condition, the vast majority of our illegal Latin population has never been able to improve their own working environment. Business for more than 30 years has had the ability to have a near slave relationship with its workforce. There no winner in the unskilled labor world, business continues to spew out lies about competing with China, while paying out bigger profits to the shareholders. The Latinos were brought here counter the wage demands of working Americans, and accepted a form of slavery for their effort.

Below is an insightful list, created by a retired Border Patrol Agent, and it is a well-articulated insight into illegal immigrants. I have done some editing on this paper, but I have tried to keep the original thoughts in place.

While you are reading, remember that there is a fair and equitable way to correct the injustices and return America back to its citizens.

1). Illegal aliens generally want US citizenship.

Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a US citizen, Mexicans and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries.

Their main attraction is steady employment, and they also want our social benefits that are earned and subsidized by working middle class such as employment, medical care, instate tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring.

2). There are jobs that Americans will not do

Illegal aliens are doing jobs that many Americans would take if given the opportunity. Illegal aliens take unskilled labor jobs, then live dozens in a single-family residence; they will share expenses, and send money to their home country.

There are no jobs that you can offer that an Americans will not do, and with unemployment, under-employment, & those that have given up looking for work approaching more than a third of job seeking Americans, we need every job. How many of you know someone who has lost their job due to no fault of their own? How many of you know someone who has lost their home, and may have been able to save it if they had found even a small job. This is America, the land of opportunity; but charity should start at home.

3). Every person who enters our Nation illegally, left poverty

Illegals are not homeless and impoverished, most have excellent jobs with good salaries. It costs them thousands of dollars up front to pay the coyotes to bring them here illegally

They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20 billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of our laws and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation.

Those who bring children do so at the peril of those children. Expectant Mothers plan their entry into America so they can have what they call an ‘Anchor Baby,’ on American soil, as to make the child an American Citizen. This is done to complicate the deportation of the family, with no real regard for the child.

4). Illegal aliens are Critical to our economy

This politician’s lie, it is shameful and should be illegal to blatantly lie to the American people, which is what has been happening more and more recently.

Illegal aliens constitute less than 3% of America’s work force; their reduced and undeclared wages are so small as not to reflect any income at all, they did send $20 billion to Latin America last year, with no known taxes paid.

The place where Illegal Aliens really show up is in the Social Welfare and Criminal Justice systems, they make up 80% of the welfare and 60% of the criminals. These are the real costs to have them here in America,

5). This is an immigrant nation.

There are 280 million native born Americans, while it is true that our nation was settled, then founded by Legal Immigrants, it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.

Even our Native Americans trace their origins back to the Mongolian plains, and there are scholars that claim Japanese fishermen were settled in the Pacific Northwest long before the first Mongol trekked across the frozen Bearing Straights.

6). The United States is not welcoming Immigrants.

Let us break this myth down Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition.

The United States of America has procedures and laws that handle Legal Immigrants, and they contribute to the colorful fabric of our Nation from their very first day here. America accepts more Legal Immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined.

7). What about the "Hispanic vote”?

Hispanic Vote is an important voting coalition, is a fools dream. The Hispanic Community is white, brown, black, and every shade in between; they are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists, and Independents. No one has ever been able to claim that the “Hispanic” vote is controllable.

Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Latin Voters is going to backfire this voting cycle, because it will be about Bread & Butter issues.

Bread & Butter refers to food on the table of their homes, the working class Americans is being hit hard by the Obama Administration in the wallet, and the American dream is vanishing before our eyes.

The Illegal Alien issue will not negatively affect the Conservatives in this next voting cycle at all. The reason is, that the WALL STREET REPUBLICANS will have been replaced by MAIN STREET CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS, which will offer solutions that will help everyone.

8). Mexico is a proven friend of the United States

Ever since September 14, 1848, When the United States Marine Corp beat General Santa Ana and the Mexican army into submission in Mexico City. Mexicans have quietly held a resentment of the United States:

• During World War I, Mexico openly allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the US.

• During World War II, again Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the US from Mexico.

• During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the US to operate freely.

• The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico.

• Today Mexican schoolchildren are taught that the US stole California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

9). Illegal Aliens come to America for a better life,

While this may be true in most cases, there are 6 billion people on this planet, at least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day.

If wanting a better life is a valid reason to break the law and sneak into our country, then let's allow those one billion to come to America and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight.

Besides, there are 280 million native born Americans who also want a better life, and I'll bet even Bill Gates and Donald Trump also still have dreams of a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full, and since when is Envy and acceptable behavior?

10). There is a labor shortage in this country

This is a lie, there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans including the unemployed and underemployed, the disenfranchised and most housewives, senior citizens, students, and newly Graduated who would gladly take most legal jobs for a livable wage.

10). It is racist to want secure borders.

What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal benefits we have set aside to assist senior citizens, children, minorities and other legal residents?

What is it about race that entitles people to violate our laws and taking the American Dream without any entitlement?

For about four decades, American politicians have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class Americans.

These politicians who have groveled at the altar of wall street gods and their pseudo-intellectual economists that have driven our Nation into the ground, all for the want of higher dividends.

You, as a politician, do you have the courage to do what is right for America? You have a choice send the illegal aliens who have broken our laws back to their home countries and have the gratitude of us who are defenders and contributed to our country.

Or, will you bow to the narrow political ambitions of a insane phonies who have stolen & abused the power of America?
